Hair Colouring AAT & Treatment Suitability Policy

For any new customers, or if it’s been over 6 months since your last colouring appointment or AAT with us, we will book you in for a free Stylist consultation and allergy test, normally around a week before your appointment.  This will normally take around 15 minutes.  

This may also apply to customers who are changing their colour from what they’ve had previously or in the past.  We will advise you at the time of booking whether a new AAT is needed, and if it isn’t, a ‘screening’ phone call will be arranged with you, to be carried out around a week before your appointment.  During this call, we will ask specific questions to determine whether there is a need for you to attend the salon for a consultation, AAT or other suitability tests and checks. 

You will also be asked to attend the salon for an up to date AAT every 6 months, regardless of how often you’ve had your hair coloured with us during that year.  This is due to colour manufacturer regulations based on current guidance.

During your consultation, a small amount of colour formula will be placed on the inside of your elbow, which will usually need to be left on for 48 hours.  If at any point during this time, you notice any signs of a reaction, such as redness, irritation, swelling, inflammation or itching, please contact us, and seek medical advice if needed. 

At this consultation, and when you attend for your colouring appointment, your Stylist will also perform other tests and checks, to assess your hair for the suitability of the treatment, and to ensure the best outcome possible for your colouring service.  They will perform another consultation before they begin the colouring process, and ask specific questions, to ensure the service is safe to be carried out.
